All of these treatments can be outpatient procedures but can also be done in the office. The treatments may but mostly are not covered by insurance. More than one treatment session may be required to achieve desirable results and results are not guaranteed.

PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) - is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from whole blood, centrifuged to remove red blood cells. Platelets naturally promote healing by signaling other cells to heal the injured tissue.

PROLOTHERAPY - injection of an irritant into the injured area, which temporarily increases inflammation. The hope is that the additional inflammation will facilitate further healing and help tissue go through the stages of healing.

Prolotherapy uses dextrose, a simple sugar as the irritant.

Note: Compared with other regenerative medicine treatments, such as PRP injections, there is not a lot of clinical research regarding prolotherapy and its effectiveness.

EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK WAVE THERAPY (ESWT) - involves delivery of radial shock waves to injured/chronic non healing soft tissue to reduce pain and promote healing.
